If you have not yet signed up for a conference date and time, please call to schedule a conference time with your child’s teacher. PTO will again sponsor a schoolwide bookfair during conference week!
CAPITAL CITY BUDDY WALK
This year is the 7th annual one mile Capital City Buddy Walk, hosted by the Down Syndrome Association for Families. The walk will take place, rain or shine, Saturday, October 4th at Antelope Park. Registration and festivities begin at 8:00 a.m., with the walk scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Participants may still register online at http://www.dsafnebraska.org/buddywalk.php?action=user
In 2007, nearly 1,000 participants walked in the Capital City Buddy Walk in over 51 buddy teams to promote positive awareness and education regarding Down Syndrome.
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to bring together a wide range of concerned individuals to reach out to friends, family and co-workers to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down Syndrome and to raise funds for education, research and advocacy programs. The walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to more than 275 nationwide (one in every state) with over 250,000 participants. PUMPKIN RUN
The Pumpkin Run is Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Pioneers Park. T-shirt pick-up is Thursday, Oct. 2, at DuTeau Chevrolet, 7300 S. 27th from 5-8 p.m.
A Pumpkin Run group picture is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 9 in the gym at 8:20 a.m. Students should go to the gym after checking in with their classroom teacher.

ART CONTESTS
The 2009 International Aviation Art Contest is seeking entries from students in elementary through high school. This year’s theme is “Create a Poster for the World Air Games.” Stop by the art room or visit www.worldairgames.org/2009 for more information.
Also, the Pet Care Poster Contest from the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association is open to fifth grade students. The theme is “Pets and People ‚Äì Healthy Together”. Information on this contest is available in the Cavett Art Room.
